It makes my heart bleed that the twentieth century has been spent by publicists deliberately redefining “machine” as “cool” and “human” as “not cool enough”. Good for machines, not so good for people.
Maybe, if I lived in a castle on top of the mountain, I would not care. But I walk outside, I see those eyes. I see cheery, mindless robotic gloss and I see lifeless elders who pay the price.
These people are my community, my neighbors, my target audience, my blind friends, my people who don’t care. I love them because they are warm like me, and I resent them because they are so fucking not.
Robots don’t kill people (although sometimes they do). They make whole people uncool, and ignorance does the rest. Those fucking marketers, those bastards.
